The flowers are blooming, the trees are budding, and so might be those creepy-crawlies in your hot tub! Bacteria and other tiny life forms tend to thrive in stagnant water and that’s certainly no different with hot tubs. If you haven’t kept up with your hot tub service throughout the winter, before you get into your hot tub this spring, clean it or have a qualified technician do it for you. Keep it safe for you and your family.
3 Quick Tips to Cleaning your Hot Tub this Spring:Tip 1: Clean Your Cover.
Before cleaning, take note of whether or not the underside of your hot tub cover is in good condition. If it is waterlogged, or is just in bad condition, it’s likely to be infested with microorganisms and you may need to replace your hot tub cover. If it’s in good condition, then simply clean it with a mild vinyl cleaning solution. You may also want to use a protectant that will help ward off future infestations.
Tip 2: Clean Your Shell.
Like with your hot tub covers, before you clean, take note of the condition of your shell. If there are any cracks in the shell, you will need to have one of our professionals come out to recondition it. Otherwise, simply apply an acrylic cleaner to the surface and wipe it off. You may want to rinse it once and then do it again.
Tip 3:Clean Your Filter.
As we’re sure you know, your filter is an extremely important part for the proper functioning of your hot tub. Inspect your filter to make sure that it is in good condition. If it isn’t, you’ll need to replace it, otherwise submerge the filter in a chlorine solution for a few hours. While it’s soaking, clean the filter housing and skimmer, too. Rinse your filter, its housing and the skimmer. Don’t forget to wear gloves.
